ADA Compliant Improvements

The Americans with Disabilities Act is an important requirement for all public places, providing accessibility for features such as sidewalks and pedestrian crossings. To ensure equal opportunities in public transportation, facilities must be upgraded to be safe and accessible for all.

Signed into law in 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires publicly accessible facilities to be designed to be accessible for people with physical restrictions. Recent developments have carefully observed these requirements, but there are still many locations that predate the act and are not in compliance. Even simple structures such as sidewalks, driveways, and pedestrian crossings may be in violation, compromising the safety of people with limited mobility, visual impairments, or other disabilities. If these features are undergoing construction as a part of a larger project, they must be redesigned according to ADA standards.

Our team has developed numerous ADA upgrades, including curb ramps with detectable warning surfaces.

Advanced Civil Technologies is familiar with all ADA requirements for public facilities, offering experience in preparing project reports and final construction drawings for the appropriate upgrades. Delivered improvements include sidewalk widening, alteration or implementation of curb ramps, and regrading of driveways. Our team has developed innovative solutions to design and construct these facilities within limited right-of-way. This effort includes extensive data collection, utility coordination, traffic analysis, water quality assessment, construction staging, and more.
