Mountain View Avenue Street Improvement Project
Both residential traffic and commercial trucks regularly utilize Mountain View Avenue, while regional growth is contributing to an increase in traffic. Roadway improvements are currently underway to address rising traffic demands.
Mountain View Avenue is a dividing line between the cities of San Bernardino and Redlands, serving communities and major businesses from both cities. This arterial is within proximity of several large distribution centers, the San Bernardino Airport, as well as I-10, and experiences a high volume of traffic as a result. Roadway widening and other improvements were recently constructed to reduce traffic congestion.
Advanced Civil Technologies provided project management/coordination and engineering services for the street improvements, which included construction of additional lanes, intersection improvements, and replacement of the two-lane Mission Creek Bridge. A portion of the project area has also undergone pavement rehabilitation. Our team provided day-to-day management of the project, provided status updates to involved agencies, and coordinated project concurrence with agency staff and project stakeholders. We also monitored the schedule and budget.
Additionally, the construction of the project utilized a new and innovative method of pavement recycling to provide significant cost-savings for the pavement rehabilitation portion of the project. The existing pavement was pulverized on-site and repurposed as the new base course for the rehabilitated pavement. By reusing the existing pavement, the project saved approximately $250,000.
