Caltrans District 12 I-5 Managed Lanes PA/ED (Contract No. 12A1924)

I-5’s HOV facilities are experiencing high levels of congestion as traffic increases. To ensure these lanes provide fast, reliable transportation, Caltrans proposes to improve the overall movement of people and goods along this section of I-5 by applying technology to help manage traffic demand.

Advanced Civil Technologies is supporting the delivery of the Project Report for proposed improvements to I-5 in Orange County. The project is located between Red Hill Avenue in Tustin and the Orange/Los Angeles County Line, a distance of approximately 15 miles. There are four alternatives being considered, including the addition of one Managed Lane in each direction between SR-22/SR-57 and SR-91 and between SR-91 and the Orange/Los Angeles County Line. ITS elements are also being considered to operate the facility, including an Active Traffic Management system

Our team is responsible for delivering the construction staging approach, including conceptual plans, and the TMP for the entire corridor. Due to its length, the project involves coordination with a high number of stakeholders, including the cities of Buena Park, Fullerton, Anaheim, Orange, Santa Ana, and Tustin. Advanced Civil Technologies is working closely with all six cities in the development of the TMP, ensuring each City’s priorities and expectations are captured in the document.
