I-605/South Street PA/ED and PS&E

Heavy traffic demand at I-605 and South Street has led to significant mobility and safety concerns. Improvements are underway to improve both issues on the SB off-ramp.

The I-605/South Street interchange currently experiences mobility and safety deficiencies along its SB ramp. South Street has become subject to significant traffic demand, which contributes to congestion on the SB ramp and causes traffic to queue onto the freeway. Because traffic is expected to increase significantly in the coming years, improvements are necessary to correct both issues.

Advanced Civil Technologies is supporting the PA/ED and PS&E phases for improvements to the SB off-ramp. The project will improve efficiency by expanding the ramp terminus to feature two left-turn and two right-turn lanes. The improvements also include the correction of the nonstandard features. Advanced Civil Technologies was responsible for the delivery of the signing/striping plans, preparation of the TMP, including the design of two cantilever overhead signs and a two-post overhead sign near the ramp terminus.
